Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19), the Finnish mobile game developer Supercell has donated $712,000 to Future Smile International Foundation. The funds are used for the procurement of medical supplies and equipment related to the prevention and control of the epidemic, as well as for the psychological counseling project aimed at improving the mental health of the patients, family, and medical staff on the site during the COVID-19 period.
With the funds from Supercell, the foundation has purchased and delivered 8,000 protective clothing, 6 ventilators, 110,000 pairs of gloves, 31,000 masks, and 20 monitors. The recipients of these supplies include Wuhan Xinzhou District People’s Hospital, Wuhan Xinzhou District Children’s Hospital, and other 8 hospitals in key severely-hit regions.
To execute Supercell’s promises to prevent the possible trauma and negative effects of the epidemic on people's mental health, the psychological counseling project has offered free counseling service for patients, family, and medical staff for a month, along with the co-operation of Taobao Philanthropy, Sina Philanthropy, and Yidianling Psychological Service.
The psychological counseling project has been supported by many citizens since it was launched. Up until now, the project has offered a month-long psychological support service to the frontline staff with the help of the Basic Affairs Office of the Civil Affairs Department of Zhejiang Province. With the gradual emergence of psychological problems, Future Smile International Foundation has made further preparations in fundraising and implementation of the project, and it is estimated that the number of counseling cases will eventually reach 10,000.
